SLIDING SCALE
Many individuals are challenged with the effects of social marginalization and may lack access to counseling services. Sliding scale rates are available and determined on a case-by-case basis according to 1) how much someone can afford and 2) level of commitment to regular sessions. There are a limited number of sliding scale spots available. In the event that a spot is not available, a waitlist will be provided and alternative therapist referrals will be offered. Priority will be given to those most in need.

Nature therapy (NBT) is widely-known around the world, as eco-therapy, nature connection, nature psychology etc. It is an innovative approach where humans immerse themselves in nature and observe, interact and create in natural environments. NBT is emerging in popularity as a ‘complementary modality’ and ‘holistic health treatment’ for people of all ages and variety of conditions, including those with chronic illnesses. Community gardens and group wilderness adventures are widespread, as is the Japanese model ‘shinrin-yoku’ otherwise known as forest bathing. NBT is not yet a fully endorsed prescription of mainstream medical professionals, however it is evidence-based, and “being used as an adjunct to traditional treatment by some counsellors, psychologists and occupational therapists” (SMH 2019). No matter the environmental landscape, therapeutic activities can be implemented. Nature is the therapist, I am the guide, and you are the healer!

You sure can! Just contact me and I will work with you to schedule a consultation as soon as possible. We can chat about your situation and I can tell you what I can do to help. This is a free 15 minute consultation call that is obligation free. If you choose to work with me, I send out a holistic assessment and then tailor a program to your needs. You may just like to try it once, or have regular sessions - the choice is yours! For personalized individual or consultation packages, please let me know your specific requirements, and I will develop a proposal for your consideration.

We can usually still conduct the session as long as everyone wears appropriate clothing such as a rain jacket, however if it storms, it is highly likely I will cancel the session and reschedule (if possible) or refund your money.

Behavioral activation is a technique used in CBT and other behavioral therapies, especially during the early stages of depression treatments. A person who's depressed may lack the motivation and energy to complete basic, healthy, life tasks. This can cause isolation and poor health, which enhances the depression, thus forming a dangerous cycle of lessening motivation and worsening depression.
During behavioral activation, you will develop a very specific plan to engage in healthy activities. They should be simple, such as doing the dishes, going for a walk, or calling a friend. These tasks might seem mundane, but they can be taxing to a person who's battling depression. For this reason, your therapist should take extra care to develop a plan with you. Decide when a task can be completed, and address any potential roadblocks ahead of time.
